General Job Overview:

The System Safety Engineer will implement elements of system safety engineering pertinent to DoD missile development projects. Responsibilities include regular interactions with stakeholders across the program and enterprise focused on the following objectives:

  • Development of Fault Tree Analyses, Hazard Analyses, Hazard Mitigation, Safety Risk Assessments, System Residual Risk Assessments, and Job Safety Analyses
  • Review of product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and establish safety requirements for assigned systems
  • Develop safety documents as required to support test, operational, or range requirements
  • Participate in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions
  • Ensure program compliance with all requirements related to: Environmental safety and health, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, human factors, reliability engineering, explosive safety, and/or facility safety

Experience Requirements:

Demonstrated ability in safety engineering focused on the following:

  • Experience with safety of mechanical/electrical aspects of missiles and test equipment
  • Knowledge of missile mechanical structural systems and ground support equipment
  • Knowledge of environmental testing of missile components and related test equipment
  • Knowledge of compatible materials, fasteners, coatings, processes and assembly methods
  • Knowledge of Explosive Safety Standards
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and MIL-STD-882
  • Active Secret Clearance

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree +5 years of experience
