What’s the role all about:

This role will support the Finance Director in leading the day to day financial functions of the business, and will include the supervision of a small finance team which is responsible for all aspects of the financial management of the Company. This is a key hands-on position requiring an individual who, in addition to the finance function, is also capable of supporting and advising both Operational management and the wider business as an effective Business Partner.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Leading the month-end close process and preparation of the monthly management accounts.
  • Oversight of financial performance, budgetary control and variance analysis, reviewing results with the leadership team and operational management as necessary.
  • Preparation of the annual budget and updated forecasts at regular intervals.
  • Oversight of project accounting, including review and sign-off of project forecasts and the accuracy of revenue recognition and customer billing.
  • Monitor, control and feedback on the Company’s overhead expenditure.
  • Preparation of accurate cashflow forecasts and the effective management of working capital.
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors and tax advisors, leading preparation of audit packs and input to the annual tax calculations.
  • Preparation of the IFRS statements and disclosure notes for the annual statutory accounts.
  • Review of quarterly and annual tax provisions provided by Group Tax.
  • Preparation of the monthly VAT report and reconciliation of VAT accounts.
  • Oversight of accounting for operating leases and fixed assets.
  • Development and maintenance of effective financial controls and accounting procedures.
  • Participation in the determination and documentation of appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Assisting with Shareholder and Board reporting, and deputising for the Finance Director as required.

Your key experience will be:

  • Minimum 3 years PQE, or 10 years in relevant accounting roles.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS.
  • Demonstrable experience of Project accounting and associated controls.
  • Background in accounting for Construction or Hard Facilities Management is an advantage.
  • Exposure to preparation of UK corporate tax and VAT returns.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookups.
  • Knowledge of MS Power BI or similar Enterprise reporting tools, and involvement with a previous ERP implementation also desirable.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

You’ll ideally have the following qualifications, memberships etc:

  • Qualified accountant, CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW
  • Degree or equivalent higher education
