KBR is seeking a Quality Engineer to join a dynamic team in Dayton, Ohio. The ideal candidate will possess an agile, adaptable leadership character with proven past work performance in a high operations tempo environment. Successfully work with all functional departments to ensure product, process and service compliance and on time delivery. accountable to promote a “culture of quality” within a team environment that meets both internal and external customer requirements. Responsible for the accurate and timely communication of customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to assure product and process quality and compliance.
Site Quality lead, responsible for the overall deployment and management of quality databases, product and process quality, records integrity, and AS9100 audit compliance.
Hands-on ability to analyze and inspect build-to-print product, measure and apply GD&T standards to capture critical product related information.
Leads projects related to the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System; sets and enforces quality standards for both in-process and finished products and materials.
Supports product inspection, testing, and calibration functions by inspecting parts, preparing inspection instructions, sampling plans, statistical analyses, quality standards, quality forms, etc.
Ensures supply chain (external provider) compliance in the areas of on-time-delivery and quality; drive external communication and improvement plans where needed.
Ensures the extended communication and adherence to the Organizations Quality Policy.
Advises Functional and Project managers regarding QMS driven processes and procedures within their own areas of responsibility.
Contributes to project teams and leads small projects as directed.
Works to continually improve quality and production processes
Knowledgeable in Process Improvement, Key performance indicator (KPI) reporting.
Identifies, improves, and mitigates process and product non-conformities through Root Cause Corrective Action.
Assists in the development and implementation value-added quality training that impacts the organization and its customers.
Actively engaged in the internal audit program to ensure adequate and thorough objective evidence factors are driving continuous improvement to processes and operations impacting the Quality Management System.
Leads Specification and Contract review for the quality team, ensuring adherence to requirements within scope and capability of the organization.
Interacts with Engineering, Project Management, Configuration Management and Production for Product and Process related support.
Performs internal Quality audits in support of the QMS and AS9100D Certification. Assists in hosting third party audits to include NADCAP and direct customer audits.
Develops and improves quality assurance / quality control related content to include work instruction and procedures for training purposes throughout the organization.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an Engineering or technical discipline.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in quality engineering or technical capacity in the Aerospace industry.
Prior experience and certification in AS9100 and / or ISO9001 auditing. Experience in a production or manufacturing environment with strong computer (soft) skills including full Microsoft Office Suite, to include MS Visio, MS Project, and MS SharePoint. Ability to analyze and format information and graphically tabulate data.
Proven time management and organizational communication skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and multi-task. This position is primarily stationary, however will require some degree of active movement that may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling.
Knowledge of engineering tools to include AutoCAD and Solidworks, dimensioning software, Knowledge and applied experience with Quality Management Systems, Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Corrective Action, and material review board (MRB), software quality assurance, verification / validation testing activities, manufacturing and production processes, OSHA environmental and regulatory requirements. Technical capacity with initiative to learn and adapt within the organization. Additional training or professional certification, (Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Green Belt, AS9100 Lead Auditor). Prior military service or experience in an Aerospace manufacturing / Aircraft Maintenance / propulsion maintenance, production, quality assurance, or structural engineering. Knowledge of Non-Destructive Inspection / Testing (NDT/NDI) theory and application(s). Knowledge and experience in military aviation or defense programs.
