Senior UI Developer

Web Developer

Candidate will support the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, located in Cambridge, MA, with expertise in designing and developing user interfaces for web applications using state of the art web development tools. The qualified candidate will be a key contributor in working with developers and web application architects to design applications using standard guidelines and design components with a mix of creativity and application design knowledge. The position requires a familiarity with design compliance with the WCAG web design standards. The candidate will work closely with development teams to ensure common usability standards in line with various usability standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops high quality work products in support of the project's goals; own the Usability Design aspects of the development process
  • Participates as an integral part of the design team and develops User Interface artifacts and component, screen prototypes, including content management templates, help system, personas, and scenarios
  • Develops Web frontends and screens, and integrate with the rest of the application using service calls
  • Develop Web/UI development standards and creates and maintains style guides
  • Remains abreast of industry design and usability trends and standards, including Section 508 and/or WCAG standards for web interface guidelines as they evolve

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's degree in business administration, mathematics, engineering, management information systems, computer science or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in HTML5, CSS3
  • Deep experience with JavaScript frameworks especially Angular and Typescript
  • Knowledge and experience of web frameworks like Bootstrap
  • Some experience of consuming web services using Web API
  • Understanding and experience of developing Restful Web services
  • Debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with 3rd party UI controls such as Kendo UI.
  • Unit and end-to-end Testing
  • Experience of building accessible web sites, other W3C standards Other Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including formal and Agile development methodologies on varying size projects
  • Some experience of developing web applications in the Net environment
  • Understanding and exposure front-end design patterns including MVC, MVVM, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with senior customers, management and team members
  • Ability to synthesize broad and narrow concepts of high complexity and use them to meet company objectives
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
