  • Responsible for the overall management of the Metrology Lab operations including integration and coordination of laboratory personnel and associate workloads.
  • Establishes laboratory objectives, work plans, schedules, and ensures resources are available for completion of established operational goals and assignments. Works with program leadership in developing budgets, cost/benefits analysis, etc.
  • Oversees activities of subordinates, ensures a productive work environment while department objectives are completed in accordance with quality standards, time and budget constraints.
  • Advises staff on operational projects and tasks.
  • Provides guidance and overall management of resource development and process improvements.
  • Evaluates and implements changes in work procedures in assigned areas.
  • Recommends candidates for employment.
  • Completes performance evaluations, recommends promotions, interprets and applies organization policies, and monitors & resolves employee situations.
  • Develops and trains subordinates as needed.
  • Enhances communications by facilitating team meetings, and participating in Metrology program, and customer meetings.
  • Position is guided by laboratory and program level objectives, and works under guidance of regional and program management.
  • Provides direction to laboratory staff and assists with the implementation of department and company initiatives.
  • Develops and/or manages local continuous improvements projects.
  • Decisions may have a major impact on the overall success of the day to day operations.
  • Provides frequent customer interaction on operational issues.
  • Applies wide application of theories, principles and concepts to operational planning.
  • May perform higher level program tasks associated with an individual contributor role.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical or management discipline with 8 years of experience specific to operational needs. In lieu of degree, appropriate experience in Metrology with increasing roles and responsibilities may be considered
  • PMEL trained or equivalent highly preferred.
  • Leadership skills, ability to counsel, coach, develop, and motivate staff of professionals.
  • Team building and facilitation skills.
  • Solid communication/presentation skills.
  • Exhibits full use of standard theories, principles, concepts and techniques in metrology disciplines.
  • Knowledge of advanced aspects of technical specialties in assigned area(s) of responsibilities.
  • Experienced in ISO17025 calibration environment a plus
  • U.S. Citizenship Status required due to client requirement
