This customer is responsible for designing, building, and operating national security-related systems based in space, in the air, and on the ground. SAIC is seeking Spacecraft/Satellite Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer for a complex space and ground efforts as part of an exciting and innovative set of programs. 

The Spacecraft/Satellite Systems Engineer provides support to the Systems Program Office (SPO) in acquisition and execution of mission critical systems.  The Project Scheduler is part of a team of high-performing subject matter experts (SMEs) responsible for planning, development and execution of new acquisitions, monitoring contract execution and providing technical analysis. The Spacecraft/Satellite Systems Engineer responsibilities may include but not limited to the following:

  • Work with Government customer leads, spacecraft system developers, and other subject matter experts across SETA and FFRDC teams.
  • Assess spacecraft and payload subsystem technical performance within cost and schedule constraints. Identify risks to program plans and schedules, and support development of corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with contractor teams to review requirements and lead Government team reviews to provide feedback.
  • Participate in life-cycle reviews, technical exchange meetings, and ad-hoc discussions on a variety of technical subjects providing technically sound feedback and recommendations based upon understanding of system CONOPs and requirements.
  • Support technical evaluations of contractor proposals.
  • Review contractor verification and validation plans.
  • Review contractor developed test plans and test reports to assess progress, risks, and issues in support of verification and validation activities.
  • Confirm requirements verification by evaluating unit, subsystem, and system performance and environmental test data, analysis, inspection, and demonstration results.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly
  • BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering w/9+ years of experience
  • Five or more years of engineering experience with satellite systems and payloads
  • Experience working in a spacecraft system program office or a satellite development facility
  • Strong background and experience with LEO satellite systems
  • Understanding of RF systems and applications
  • Self-starter. Independent. Team player. Ability to identify and execute value-added activities in the absence of specific direction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work virtually and in-person with teams located in diverse geographic locations.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • MS in Engineering
  • Experience with multiple spacecraft programs and a variety of development contractors
  • Knowledge of DoD and IC acquisition processes and practices.
  • In-depth technical experience with either SIGINT and/or Radar systems and payloads.
