SAIC’s STARS lab is currently looking for a Senior Full Stack Java Developer (FSJD) to support software development of a multi-threaded Radar model written in Java and JavaFX. This position is located on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

Product Description:

The AN/TPY-2 Forward Based Mode (FBM) Radar model is a Radar planning tool written in Java and running on a RHEL Linux OS. This FBM Planner will be fielded to the Warfighter in CY 2021. Planner is a Linux-based application that facilitates visualization of Radar search plans and their effectiveness against missile threats through an intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI).


Education: Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and zero (0) years related experience;  four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.

Clearance: Must have an Interim Secret clearance to start with the ability to obtain and maintain full Secret clearance.

Required Skills:  

  • Ability to debug and solve complex technical issues
  • Previous experience with Java and/or JavaFX
  • Multi-threaded programming experience 
  • Experience using Git for source code configuration management
  • Proficient with Agile software development paradigm

Desired Skills:

  • Atlassian Tools - JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket
  • Build Tools (Maven, Gradle, Ant, etc.)
  • MVC architecture
  • SQL (Derby or Postgres)
  • Swing
