Services Acquisition Specialist
Performs the following duties for the Air Force Institute of Technology School of Systems and Logistics (AFIT/LS). AFIT is committed to providing defense-focused graduate and professional continuing education and research to sustain the technological supremacy of America’s air and space forces. AFIT’s mission is to advance air, space, and cyberspace power for the Nation, its partners, and our armed forces by providing relevant defense-focused technical graduate and continuing education, research, and consultation. This position involves:
§Providing product support in the form of developing, editing, modifying and teaching course materials.
Developing curriculum, instruct students, facilitate discussions, and enable student-centered active learning using classrooms/technology available at AFIT and conduct consulting for same as necessary.
Knowledge Required by the Position:
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Department of Defense Services Acquisition
Application of appropriate acquisition strategies, policies (DoD 5000.74 and AFI 63-138) and required documentation/ templates necessary to procure Services.
Roles and responsibilities of key players, such as the Services Designated Official.
Post-award contract activities, budgeting, as well as challenges presented by Services Acquisition efforts and effective risk mitigation techniques/tools.
Offer real-life examples of first-hand knowledge of Air Force policies and practices related to Services Acquisition.
Needs to be familiar and understand Air Force Instruction (AFI) 63-101 and DoD 5000.02
An earned Bachelor of Science degree in Program/Project Management or Contracting or relevant field of study with demonstrated teaching ability.
A Master of Science degree (or higher) and/or professional teaching experience of adult students is highly desirable.
Familiarity with Air Force baseline management procedures and budget execution. Should understand cost, schedule, and performance in doing health evaluation of program/project.
Demonstrated professional knowledge with 6-15 years of specialized experience in program management, contracting, or another relevant professional career field.
Ability to teach using various modalities, including live in-residence, virtual in-residence, and synchronous and asynchronous distance learning.
Possess the ability to communicate clearly and expertly (in English) in both verbal and written forms concerning academic, administrative, and technical subject matters.
Familiarity with AFIT/LS organization structure, research initiatives and processes, and points-of-contact is desirable.
Eligible to obtain a SECRET security clearance background check investigation and possess a government common access card (CAC). LI-EH1
