KBR is seeking a motivated Optical Engineer to work onsite with one of our Intelligence Community customers in Reston, VA. A qualified candidate will have broad experience working in the development, test, deployment, and operations of Electro-Optical (EO) space situational awareness (SSA) systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide SETA support in the acquisition and development of EO SSA sensor systems
  • Assist in drafting acquisition strategy and documentation
  • Assess EO SSA sensor systems, analytical techniques, or new applications for existing systems, as needed
  • Perform research on the performance and capabilities of EO SSA sensors, focusing on target phenomenology detection and characterization
  • Provide input to analysis reports, briefings, in-depth analysis reports, quick response taskings, and compendium updates
  • Produce reports on algorithm development/enhancement, tools, and data sources
  • Analyze data in the application of remote sensing technology to solve intelligence issues
  • Prepare and present briefings and update internal report tracking metrics for analysis
  • Work independently and in a team environment
  • May require technical leadership and directing the work of other staff members


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics or related discipline; or equivalent experience; graduate level degrees is desired.
  • Experience and understanding of design, development, and testing/fielding of electro-optical systems specific to passive and/or active remote sensing applications
  • Experience with government acquisition processes
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Security Requirements: Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with recent CI Poly
