KBR is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Software Engineer in our El Segundo, CA office to support the Enterprise Mission Assurance Team (EMAT). The EMAT’s mission is to deliver technically superior risk assessments and smart risk mitigation options to ensure SMC space systems’ mission success in support of the joint warfighter and the nation. The SMC Enterprise Corps (SMC/EC) maintains the EMAT to provide independent assessments of program risks and risk mitigation options to SMC leadership for designated SMC launch vehicles and space vehicles. The EMAT acts independently from the programs under its review, and the SMC/CC is the final authority for directing and authorizing reviews by the EMAT. The EMAT ensures the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) space vehicles and launch vehicles are ready to fly before launch and are built perform properly over the systems’ mission life.


  • Support the Software Panel by providing technical assistance in the areas of space and launch vehicle systems.
  • Technical evaluation and risk assessments of electrical units in space systems and of avionics units in launch vehicle systems
  • Technical evaluation of all space and launch vehicle on-board computers
  • Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) support, including subject matter expertise (SME), as directed in SMC-G-1201, SMC-G-1202, SMC-G-1203, and SMC-G-1204.
  • Support IPTs in developing draft charts in support of Readiness Reviews described in the above guides
  • Perform peer reviews as a member of technical panels on space vehicles and launch vehicles developed by SMC’s prime development contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Minimum 10+ years of hands-on design, build, code, or test experience in one or more of the following arears: Launch Vehicle, Satellite and/or Ground Station Software
  • Significant experience in performing risk analysis and mitigation on space flight hardware
  • Extremely motivated individual who is a self-starter and a team player
  • Demonstrated experience in executing tasks in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated experience with team leadership and program/project management.

Security Requirements: Active Secret Clearance Required.
