The Training Developer role represents a growth opportunity for a high profile Defence training project. About The Role The role is fixed 12 month term position based at the Royal Australian Navy’s training facility at Randwick Barracks in New South Wales in support of the RAN’s Canberra Class LHD platforms. Flexible working arrangements are available.

This is a challenging role that will require the successful candidate to be a high-performing, self-starter. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic project team. The Training Developer will conduct analysis, design and development of contemporary Defence Learning Management Packages (LMPs). The project is focussed on introducing new technologies (e.g. virtual reality) and learning methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our client’s training pipeline. As a result, it is essential that candidates demonstrate knowledge and application of these as they relate to the Defence training environment to be competitive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce a range of deliverables that Australian Defence Force System Approach to Defence Learning (SADL) requirements.
  • Develop processes and products consistent with an instructional design methodology.
  • Incorporate contemporary learning methodologies, blended learning principles and new technologies into training materials.
  • Manage content / document review cycles with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Deliver outputs on time, on budget and in line with quality requirements.
  • Apply a proactive risk management approach to identification and resolution of risks and issues associated with training development activities.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and facilitate meetings and design/development workshops.

Your background:

  • Demonstrated experience with the ADDIE systems approach to learning and be highly experienced in the implementation and evaluation phases.
  • Thorough practical knowledge and experience with the Defence Training Model / SADL (or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing all sections and supporting materials that contribute to the Defence’s Learning Management Plans.
  • Five or more years’ experience in analysing, designing and / or developing training materials in a military (or similar) context.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency with MS Office suite.

Your qualifications:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Currently hold or have the ability to obtain an Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance
