System Engineer

KBR is seeking a System Engineer (SE) to join the Missions Engineering Support team. This individual is an engineering generalist with knowledge in several different Information Technology system disciplines such as Hardware, Software and Network system integration, configuration, testing/troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation. The SE will have the primary responsibility to provide System Administration (SA) support for one of the USGS Flight Operations Missions. Due to mission critical operation activities this individual will work closely with mission operational personnel and management to coordinate system/application upgrades and repairs. They will use standard procedures in carrying out day to day operational assignments. The SE may serve as company representative advising customer and contractor personnel on technical requirements for products or services, support equipment and electronic equipment installation.

  • Provide Information Technology and Network support for Mission Operational and support systems.
  • Hardware and Software Integration, Configuration, Upgrade/maintenance
  • Day-to-day support activities
  • System analysis (log review)
  • Collect, document, analyze and interpret data
  • System backups
  • System Documentation
  • Product research/review/pricing and testing
  • Develop technical reports.
  • Perform logistic tasks, product analysis and recommendation
  • As needed provides direct customer interface on behalf of organization.
  • As needed coordinated cross functional efforts with multiple groups to meet mission task requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • 3 + year of related experience
  • In lieu of formal education 11 years of related experience
  • Networking: Basic/Intermediate, understanding of various TCP/IP networking protocols, network printers, NAS
  • System troubleshooting: system/network hardware and apps
  • Information Technology security understanding
  • Competent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter, able to work under limited supervision

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, primary day shift
  • “On-Call” 365 days
