SAIC is looking for cleared SW Systems Engineer  Cloud Environment in San Diego, CA, to join a professional and leading edge technology team while participating in the DoD Acquisition process that supports various Programs of Record within Program Executive Office; Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Intelligence; NAVWAR and NIWC Pacific.

Take VM/Containerized software to function in the CR environment. If not a current developer, have a familiarity of it. Experience designing and deploying cloud architecture and cloud computing, IT Infrastructure planning, or Global Infrastructure are desired.

Conduct System Engineering activities based on sound engineering practices and assist with the design and deployment of dynamically scalable, available, and reliable applications based on customer/system requirements, and cost-control strategies.

Evaluate cloud application requirements and make architectural recommendations for implementation, deployment, and provisioning applications. Provide best practice guidance on the system architectural design and expertise in Cloud computing.

May perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software/engineering specifications

Provide information for selection, implementation techniques, deployment automation, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Contribute to development of new principles and concepts.

Experienced in Cloud Compliance and maintaining security and data protection, audit standards, AWS security control environment.

Understand METOC systems and sensors and their practical application in support of Navy missions are desired.

Work with and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders, government technical representatives, and other supporting contractors; excellent written and oral communications; ability to work independently or in a team collaborative environment; ability to brief senior government personnel.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. 4 years of additional experience is acceptable in lieu of degree.

Active TS/SCI 

  • Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) Qualified (IAT-II or IAT-III) with Linux OS certification
  • System Administration: Windows Server, Red Hat Linux and/or CentOS
  • Programming: Java, JavaScript, Bash scripts, Perl
  • Application experience: JBoss, Postgresql, Maven, Git, Confluence, JIRA, Windows ADLDS, SVN, Eclipse, DoD PKI, Hibernate
  • Linux administration tasks i.e., manage user accounts, performing complex software installations and upgrades for tools, reading, editing, writing Bash shell scripts, security hardening, and resolving STIGs
  • Familiarity with any of the following: Amazon Web Services (AWS), version control tools (Subversion/Git), Maven build tool and repository managers e.g., JFrog, Nexus, SW integration, test, and release automation using Jenkins, web application servers, Windows OS, SCRUM and Agile Planning.
