Materials/Mechanical Engineer

This position will be supporting material and mechanical projects for KBR’s Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS) and aircraft customers. The ideal candidate will provide materials guidance on engineering teams to develop solutions to sustainment problems encountered by the customer. The ideal candidate will also be able to define and execute testing and evaluation of materials to determine performance and drive material and component selection. Familiarity with aerospace materials, materials testing and failure analysis, and technical document creation are a must. The engineer must be able to work in both a supporting role or leadership position as necessary.


  • Masters in engineering with 3 years of experience or a Bachelors in engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Mechanical engineering with a materials specialty or Materials/Metallurgical engineering preferred, other fields with applicable experience will be considered.
  • Understanding of industry best practices and material standards
  • Understanding of mechanical systems
  • Understanding of materials testing techniques and methodologies, development and execution of materials testing, and interpretation of test results
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work on diverse cross-disciplinary teams
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously


  • Aerospace or military experience
  • Experience with materials testing techniques and methodologies
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or ANSYS
  • Understanding of ASME Y14 drafting standards
  • Knowledge of welding and joining methods and applications
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing or other non-traditional manufacturing methods
  • Knowledge of adhesives and composites
