Description

SAIC is seeking a Software Engineer Working Lead to support the Space and Missile Systems Center Advanced Systems & Development Directorate (SMC/AD). The SEWL is a contributing member and leader of a functional team within Engineering, working closely with other mission and engineering teams to accomplish product-development goals. The SEWL has strong input into functional process improvements in the department, and is responsible for the output of software engineers and developers supporting pre-and post-launch satellite systems at a high ops tempo. This position is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico
 
Primary duties include:
  • Makes critical contributions in design and development efforts for releases and sustaining improvements of existing software
  • Contributes to multiple missions and provides technical and architectural guidance to the team
  • Applies software engineering principles to design software specifications for Service Oriented Architecture objects and applications and identifies and drives process improvements
  • Ensures individuals in the team adhere to ISO standards and processes
  • Recommends modifications or improvements to new or existing applications
  • Tests, debugs, and refines software to meet customer requirements
  • Prepares required documentation for both program management and end-users
  • Contributes to performance evaluations, using input from Core Team Leads, Functional Team Leads, and Directors
  • Maintains understanding of current and emerging technologies in his/her primary engineering discipline

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and 5 years or more of relevant experience; Master’s degree and 3 years or more of relevant experience. Four years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain an SCI within 6 months of start date
  • Strong software development and integration background with experience supporting operational systems
  • Experience with real time systems, embedded software, Python and VMware
  • Experience with project management, including schedule and resource oversight for major technical projects
  • Management of maintenance and feature enhancement projects for existing products, including transition to deployment and operations
  • Good understanding of disciplined processes and information and data management
 
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Systems engineering processes and software architecture experience are a plus
  • Experience with Agile, SAFe, Agile/Scrum and Kanban development methodologies
  • Familiarity with satellite and command and control systems
