Software Developer

Software Engineer Job Responsibilities:

Has knowledge of standard configuration management and software development processes. Engages in all phases of an agile software development lifecycle including gathering and analyzing user requirements, participating in design activities, and testing programs to meet approved requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a related area and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. Maintains and develops analysis tools and database applications required to analyze weapon systems and store performance metrics. Candidate must have an active security clearance or be able to obtain a security clearance.

Software Engineer Job Duties:

  • Configuration Manages software using GIT (a distributed version control system)
  • Develops software solutions following an agile software development lifecycle
  • Analyzes user requirements and converts requirements to designs
  • Maintains and improves the performance of existing software programs
  • Develops, implements, and tests new software programs
  • Possesses up-to-date knowledge of best practices used in the software industry
  • Communicates effectively and professionally in all forms of communication
  • Multi-tasks and changes from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Implements software that supports the Windows and Linux platforms
  • Writes tests for existing and new code to ensure compatibility and stability

Software Engineer Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • At least 3 years of relevant software development experience
  • General Programming Skills
  • Knowledge of software development and configuration management fundamentals
  • Experience and working knowledge of C++, MATLAB, and SQL is highly desired
  • Experience with Linux and other programming languages is desired
  • Devotion to self-study and learning new concepts
  • Ability to work independently or with a team and multi-task effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze information
  • Possesses strong problem solving and decision making skills while using good judgment
