Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an Engineer / Task Leader. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a successful work history of designing tank and/or HVAC systems.

This position is a telecommuting role with field responsibilities in the greater New York City region that may require some overnight travel.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Preparation of design drawings, specifications, and supporting calculations for fuel storage and delivery systems.

  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic travel.

  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative

We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or other relevant Engineering

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in designing tank and/or HVAC systems. Demonstrated experience in designing system layouts based on survey information and conducting site visits.

  • Able to independently perform design functions including preparation of drawings (site plans, mechanical details, structural details and electrical/control schematics), technical specifications, supporting calculations (pipe flow, buoyancy, pump selection, etc.), selection of equipment, engineering cost estimates, technical reports, regulator response letters, and equipment submittal reviews.

  • Experience coordinating work with other engineering disciplines (structural, geotechnical, electrical, etc.) and CADD staff

  • Experience coordinating and providing QA/QC review of work performed by junior engineer.

  • Experience interpreting codes, regulations, and national guidelines

  • Able and willing to travel periodically with some overnight stays

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in designing tank systems including fuel storage (USTs and ASTs) and dispensing, and/or HVAC systems

  • Professional Engineering license in New York State

  • Experience interpreting tank codes, regulations, and national guidelines

  • Experience with New York City (NYC) codes and local laws, and NYC Department of Buildings (DOB)/NYC Small Business Services (SBS), NYC Fire Department (FDNY), NYC Public Design Commission (PDC), and NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) applications

  • Proficient in using CADD software

  • Proficient in using standard office software including MS Office and Adobe Acrobat

  • Strong public speaking skills and experience interfacing with clients and regulators.

  • Demonstrated experience leading client attended meetings, in person and through video and phone conferencing.
