ManTech’s Air Force and Space Division is seeking a motivated, customer-oriented Propulsion Engineer with skills and background related to project engineering and project management of launch vehicle and/or satellite systems in the areas of propulsion/engines systems, subsystems, and components to join our team in El Segundo, CA. 

The position supports the Space and Missile Systems Center Launch Enterprise Directorate (SMC/LEA) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA on new entrant certification of the New Glenn launch vehicle system.

ManTech is actively seeking a motivated, customer-oriented Propulsion Project Engineer to join our team in the El Segundo, CA area.

General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide systems and technical engineering support to the Air Force space launch program.

  • Participate in system, sub-system and component design reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, SVR), test and manufacturing readiness reviews; develop and present reports summarizing assessments and results.

  • Participate in technical Working Group and Technical Interchange Meetings. Coordinate with team members to establish meeting agendas and publish meeting minutes.

  • Assess and evaluate propulsion system, sub-systems, and component test plans against applicable standards.

  • Evaluate and track issues, risks, and configuration changes.

  • Coordinate, plan, and support Chief Engineer Review Boards (ChERB) or other technical reviews as required.

  • Apply knowledge of item design, qualification test results, and manufacturing, to evaluate the suitability and risk of the resulting item.

  • Work with manufacturing and quality engineers to assess and evaluate manufacturing plans against applicable standards.

  • Consolidate and coordinate reports, data products, and notes from multiple team members into a single formal report on a routine basis.

  • Assist Space Force customer create briefing packages suitable for senior management.

  • Review the New Entrant process changes to determine impact to process stability

  • Interface with multiple team and government organizations

Mandatory Skills Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

10-12 years of experience with liquid propulsion components and systems in launch vehicle or spacecraft applications.

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience with MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Ability to travel up to 25% time

U.S. Citizenship Required

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance within 6 months of hire.

Other Skills Preferred:

  • Strong background in Systems Engineering concepts, and launch or satellite systems is highly desired.

  • Knowledge and experience with government and commercial industry standards applicable to launch vehicles.
