Description

Job Description: SAIC is looking for a Technical Animator in Huntsville, AL to join our tight-knit team developing extraordinary games and interactive software for the Army Game Studio. In this role, key Technologies you will be using include Maya for building character/control rigs, and OptiTrack motion capture system and Motion Builder for converting animations. Please include an online portfolio with your applicaiton, ideally including examples of character/control rigs, and animations. 
 
About the Program: The Army Game Studio is leader in the development of virtual, interactive, and multimedia systems for outreach, education, simulation, and training for the Army. AGS produces Games and Game-based simulations, which include augmented, virtual, and mixed-reality technologies.

Location: This position will be a mix of work from home and onsite in Huntsville, AL. 
 
Job Duties:
  • You will be involved in the animation pipeline using the OptiTrack motion capture system and motion builder to capture complex movements for a variety of projects.
  • You will also use Maya to create character rigs as well as maintain and modify a library of technical assets.  
  • Work with art and design leads to make our products more immersive through animation. 

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in art, game development, animation or related field. 
  • 2+ years of experience in a modeling, technical art, or animation role in video game development
  • Experience with Maya building character/control rigs
  • Experience with OptiTrack motion capture system
  • Experience using Motion Builder
  • Experience building animation systems in a commercial game engine like Unreal or Unity. 
  • Solid knowledge of anatomy, body mechanics, and animation principles
  • Experience with scripting in Python/Pymel
  • Experience with source control solutions
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Software

Clearance Requirement: US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
