Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a GIS/CAD Technician to b based either in our Chelmsford, MA or Chicago, IL.

Job Description

  • The GIS Technician provides support for the development and maintenance of roadway, parking, airfield GIS networks, as it pertains to facilities, infrastructure, and utility information. Under the direction of the Project Manager, this position is responsible for:

  • Maintaining GIS data layers and procedures

  • Creating, updating, and integrating data sets from surveys and other sources

  • Preparing and plotting maps for paper and online distribution

  • Importing and converting data into various formats and spatial projections

  • Loading GIS data to the GIS system and integration into other software systems

  • Assisting in GIS system testing/debugging

  • Assisting in training GIS functionality and benefits to system users

  • Providing technical support

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • With background in Civil Engineering or Geography or GIS-related field

  • Proficient in knowledge of GIS mapping and data management application

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years experience working with ArcGIS Desktop and extensions, ArcGIS Online, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office is preferred

  • General expertise with Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, or comparable software

  • Knowledge of basic data analysis tools such as Excel (including lookups, pivot tables)

  • Ability to learn and work with GIS based asset management software

  • Ability to obtain Department of Defense security clearance

  • Willingness to travel 25%
