The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Field inspection and oversight of transportation construction projects including bridges, road, traffic signals, signing, ITS and underground facilities. This work will be completed in the field with the Contractor on active construction sites. The employee will need to be able to interpret plans and specifications which will be provided for each project.

  • Monitor and record the work and progress of contractors, while tracking material quality and usage using FieldBook and ProjectWise. Field measurements and the ability to complete accurate calculation of quantities placed by the Contractor is required. Additional basic computer skills such as the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and various PDF viewers is also required.

  • Verify that traffic control measures are implemented and maintained during construction. Confirm the traffic control is in accordance with the plans and specifications provided for each project.

  • Maintain communication between AECOM supervisors and peers, MDOT and local agency personnel, contractor personnel and the general public. The employee must have the ability and drive to work independently in addition to being able to work in a collaborative group of inspectors. Daily communication is imperative to keep Project Manager, Project Engineers, and Lead inspectors apprised of general progress and any issues that may arise.

  • Perform NPDES inspections.

Minimum Requirements

  • HS + None

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Field Experience

  • Valid Driver's license, with good driving record

  • Weekend and night work will be required

  • Overnight travel within the state may be required
