Associate Project Manager - EPC

Job Description

Based at KBR’s home office in Houston, TX, with broad direction autonomy, manages small FEED and EPC projects in the energy and chemicals industry having a TIC value, typically, of up to $50 million. Assures safe project execution to the client's satisfaction, consistent with cost, schedule, and contractual requirements while maintaining bottom-line responsibility for financial success. Alternatively, may have an equivalent level of responsibility on a portion of a large project. Serves as a point of contact between the client and the company. Assures the project execution is in accordance with policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company. Leads the project management team and is responsible for the successful completion of the project. In the proposal phase, works closely with Sales to evaluate inquiries and interpret requirements. Defines the precise scope of work and identifies changes between the original proposal and the final contractual agreement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and leads all aspects of proposal creation
  • Plans the project scope execution and assures adherence to the plan
  • Manages home office staff related to all aspects of engineering, procurement, subcontracts, project controls, construction management pre-commissioning, and commissioning
  • Manages field office staff and field operations related to all aspects of construction management and commissioning activities
  • Manages tendering, specification, and oversight of procurement purchase orders and design and construction subcontracts
  • Administrates strict change management and negotiates changes with the client
  • Keeps the client and company advised of project status through industry-accepted project controls tracking and reporting norms
  • Responsible for scope completion, turnover, and final documentation and archiving

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Construction Management. Possession of a PE License or PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in related projects with an average of twelve (12)+ years which includes several years of experience in Engineering Management, Project Controls Management, Procurement Management, Subcontracts Management, Construction Management or as a Project Manager.
  • Experience with projects in one or more of the following categories: Oil & Gas, LNG, Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Olefins, Fertilizers/Ammonia
  • Experience with projects in one or more of the following categories will be a strong differentiator: Renewables, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage and other New Energies
