AECOM's Norfolk, VA office is hiring an Electrical Engineer to work on various designs of high-performance buildings within multiple sectors including Corporate Workplace and Commercial buildings, Federal Civilian and DoD, Healthcare, Mission Critical, Justice, and Higher Education projects.
Senior technical resource to serve as technical advisor for team
Lead junior engineers in engineering design development and professional growth
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Develops studies and designs to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work.
Researches, develops, designs, specifies, and witnesses the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of design package.
Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction
Performs quality control review of design calculations and drawings.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or Architectural- Engineering with Electrical Emphasis Engineering from an accredited program
Six (6) years of design experience
Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required.
Valid Drivers License
Experienced in Electrical Power Calculation Software
Experienced in application of National Electrical Code
Working knowledge of NFPA, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes
Skill in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans and drawings
Ability to switch between working on multiple/different projects daily
