Work with limited supervision as part of a FAA systems program management team on initiatives and activities associated with assessing risk and providing recommendations to prevent National Airspace Systems (NAS) and Non-NAS information systems from unauthorized access or sabotage and enhancing the ability of those systems to withstand and survive security threats in an operational environment. Provide support for development of Security Authorization/Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) packages and related documentation for information systems under the purview of the Decision Support Systems (DSS) Program Office.

Support development, coordination, and facilitation of authorization documentation, NAS cybersecurity activities, risk mitigation, and cyber defense initiatives for the information systems under the purview of the DSS Program Office.

Support the assessment, monitoring, and remediation of information system vulnerabilities.

Support development of status reports, briefings, and other documents for delivery to the client security point of contact, system owners, and other DSS management.

Support responses to information security-related data calls, FAA security notifications, and Government security audits.

Provide other information systems security-related support as delegated by the DSS Program Office Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) and Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO).

Familiarity with the following is desirable: NIST Special Publication 800.53, Security and Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations, NIST SP 800-37, Risk Management Framework for Information Systems and Organizations, System Characterization Document (SCD), System Security Plan (SSP), Information System Contingency Plan (ISCP, and POA&M remediation. Familiarity with FAA Information Systems Security processes, guidance, and procedures an asset.  




  • Ability to independently prepare and coordinate responses to the customer.
  • Ability to support risk assessment scans.
  • Ability to support meetings for various security groups. .
  • Ability to maintain files for correspondence to include outgoing and incoming letters, and to track and maintain deliverables and responses/comment packages on deliverables. 
  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely and with technical accuracy.
  • Ability to research and coordinate with FAA SMEs.
  • Ability to work independently, and with a team, to complete complex technical tasks.
  • Expertise with MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visio desired.

Education and experience requirements: Bachelor’s Degree Required and 8 years of experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
