Description

SAIC is seeking three Flight Test Engineers to support various NAVAIR Program Offices, including the KC-130T Flight Test Team, MH-60R Flight Test Team, E-2D Flight Test Team and flight test Mission Planning for PMA 231.

These positions will be located at Naval Air Station Patuxent River (NAS), which is the premier flight test center for Navy Air Craft in Patuxent River, MD. 

Responsibilities

  • Positions will entail engineering support to Mission Systems test and evaluation activities including support for flight and lab test planning, coordination, execution, analysis, and reporting activities. 
  • In this role you will be expected to assess system development and integration for impact on test planning and test objectives.  
  • In this role you will also prepare flight cards, attend flight briefs/debriefs, support data reduction/analysis, identify and document deficiencies, and support flight test plan and test report preparation.
  • Use JMPS and other software components to create mission plans and associated load files in support of E-2D flight test events that satisfy flight test mission requirements.
  • Ensure flights are supported on schedule, including after hours and some weekends, with mission loads.
  • Support evaluation of mission planning and mission computer hardware and software by writing Problem Reports and Deficiencies.
  • Support timely post-flight activities and data analysis by downloading and distributing data collected during flight, including being responsible and accountable for classified data and approval as a VX-20 Data Transfer Agent.
  • Support management and planning of the JMPS hardware and software baseline to support E-2D mission planning capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot mission planning and mission computer issues.
  • Provide mission planning support on detachments (estimated at 15% of the time).

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors degree in engineering or related engineering discipline with five (5) years of experience.

Clearance

Interim Secret Security Clearance required prior to start date and must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Specific system experience with any of the following:
    • Supporting KC-130T platform or MH-60R platform
    • Navigation systems performance design and/or evaluation - particularly RNP/RNAV and ILS systems
    • Navy’s navigation related cert/re-cert processes and exposure to the SPIRENT laboratory test tool
    • Experience with Link 16 - particularly integration and system performance related experience
  • Experience supporting flight test events (specifically with E-2D platform highly desired) and/or systems testing.
  • Required Navigation Performance-Area Navigation (RNP-RNAV).
  • Experience with JMPS (Joint Mission Planning System). 
  • Experience troubleshooting mission planning and mission computer issues.
  • Must be open to some travel to provide mission planning support on detachments (estimated at 15% of the time).
  • Must enjoy working in a team setting and working with a team to write, excute, and report on test events
