Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Consultant Landscape Architect to grow our highly experienced and successful team across the South of England.

As a member of one of the UK’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will be involved in a range of large-scale projects, including strategic planning, major infrastructure, urban regeneration, campus design, historic landscapes and environmental enhancement schemes.

The role is based in our London Aldgate office but will support the wider team, principally across the South of England, but also nationally and so some travelling between offices will be expected. Job Responsibilities:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of technical expertise in order to be able to carry out the following job/project accountabilities:

  • Undertake site survey work.

  • Produce or oversee the production of technical reports including landscape and/or townscape and visual impact assessments and appraisals.

  • Produce or oversee the production of drawings and other graphical information using appropriate software, with the necessary level of detail as required at various stages of development: strategies, conceptual design, detailed design and production information.

  • Be client facing and respond to client requirements

  • Clear communication, including the ability to contribute to conference calls, meetings and workshops.

  • Have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance to teach and develop junior staff, including as a P2C mentor

  • Oversee and manage the workload of junior members of staff, with support from senior staff.

  • Be aware of and understand the AECOM procedures, their importance and their application to projects.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.

  • Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.

  • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.

  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.

  • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets.

  • May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.

  • May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 2 years experience, including working towards Chartership or recently qualified.

  • Some experience of preparing landscape and/or townscape and visual impact assessments and appraisals

  • Some experience of detailed landscape design and preparation of tender documentation

  • Some experience of contract administration and managing projects, including financial control and reporting and programme management.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.

  • Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

  • Experience of some or all of the following would also very useful: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, ProjectWise.

  • Full UK driving licence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Either working towards Chartership or a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).

  • Degree/Diploma/Masters in Landscape Architect
