Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Principal Landscape Architect to grow our highly experienced and successful team in Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of multi-disciplinary teams on projects of all scales within a friendly and supportive team. As a member of one of the UK’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will be involved in a range of large-scale projects, including strategic planning, major infrastructure, urban regeneration, campus design, historic landscapes and environmental enhancement schemes.

The role is based in our Edinburgh Tanfield office but will support the wider team, principally across Scotland, but also nationally and so some travelling between offices will be expected. Job Responsibilities:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of technical expertise in order to be able to carry out the following job/project accountabilities:

• Produce or oversee the production of drawings and other technical documentation using appropriate software, with the necessary level of detail as required at various stages of development: strategies, conceptual design, detailed design and production information.

• Compile tender submissions and secure new work.

• Be client facing and respond to client requirements

• Develop and manage the work of others.

• Clear communication, including the ability to write concise technical reports and to contribute to conference calls, meetings and workshops.

• Establish strong working relationships with other members of the landscape team and internal teams across the business.

• Have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance to teach and develop junior staff, including as a P2C mentor

• Working as a Project Manager, project management responsibilities, including contractual, financial and programme management.

• Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience of detailed landscape design and preparation of tender documentation

• Experience of contract administration and managing projects will be useful, including financial control and reporting and programme management.

• Knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.

• Some understanding of landscape planning.

• Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively

• Experience of some or all of the following would also advantageous: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, LSS or ProjectWise.

Preferred Qualifications

• Landscape Institute accredited Bachelor’s degree, Diploma and/or Master’s degree.

• Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).
