Job Summary
AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Environmental Permitting Consultant to join our Permitting and Process Safety team in the UK.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the growth and continued success of the UK Environmental Permitting business, covering all aspects of regulatory compliance associated with the Environmental Permitting Regulations or their equivalents in other countries.
Job Duties
Teamwork
Play an active role in contributing to the success of the AECOM business.
Work in partnership with other members of the Environmental Permitting team and other Environmental teams (e.g. soil and groundwater, noise, ecology etc.), successfully winning and delivering the project work.
Liaise and work effectively with clients and other business functions within AECOM.
Business Development
Support the overall Environmental Permitting Team with the development and growth of the business.
Proactively lead business development activities, develop strong client relationships and undertake client and site visits for pursuits.
Lead the preparation of proposals, job costing, assisting with the entry of prospects and opportunities into business management software.
Develop and maintain Environmental Permitting marketing materials and CV’s supported by colleagues.
Project Delivery:
Manage, and deliver Environmental Permitting services (in delivering the regulatory requirements of the Environmental Permitting Regulations in England and Wales, or their equivalents in other countries e.g. PPC in Scotland) across a number of industry sectors covered by the environmental business line, i.e. Oil & Gas, Organic and Inorganic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Power, Non-Ferrous Metals, Food and Drink, Paper and Pulp etc.
Coordinate with and work alongside other AECOM technical teams e.g. Process Safety, Air Quality and Soil & Groundwater colleagues to deliver environmental risk and impact assessments in support of Environmental Permitting and COMAH projects e.g.:
H1 assessments,
Soil and Groundwater Risk Assessments,
MATTE assessments (consistent with the Chemicals and Downstream Oil Industries (CDOIF) methodology),
Fire water risk assessments.
The applicant must have extensive knowledge of the application of UK National and European environmental legislation, in particular its application and best practice, including the ability to recognise and cross-apply good practice examples and opportunities.
Build professional relationships with clients / clients representatives to build trust and facilitate efficient project delivery.
The ability to work as part of a wider project delivery team and coordinate the efforts of junior staff is essential.
Undertake detailed technical and quality reviews of all project deliverables prepared by junior staff.
All project deliverables must be of a high technical and written standard and delivered in compliance with the AECOM project and quality management systems.
There will be the expectation for working at client sites or other AECOM office locations as the workload requires.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates experience should be commensurate with the specified job responsibilities
Pertinent experience in an industrial or consultancy role.
Excellent report writing, technical reviewing and communication skills – all with an attention to detail.
The ability to work as part of an established team.
Full driving licence and a willingness to travel.
