The Project Leader, Construction assumes leadership responsibility for coordinating certain portions of the administration of the project such as cost control, document control, contract changes, shop drawings for the CAPEX Operations for the client. They may be responsible for supervising and/or directing certain subcontractors or parts of a large project and perform project management functions. On a daily basis, the incumbent monitors the physical construction of the project through daily coordination of all field activities, subcontractor direction, and code/specification compliance. The incumbent will work directly with a team to support client needs on site.

This position is located as a client site in Selkirk, NY. No per diem or relocation will be offered.


  • Responsibilities include project setup and subcontracting strategy, shop drawing review and processing, contract changes, owner/architect/engineer daily relations, subcontractor relations, and all required owner and in-house reporting.
  • Capable of running a project of $7 to $15 million.
  • Day to day contact and communication with clients, customers, subcontractors, and project team members.
  • Having leadership responsibly for all phase of planning and execution on small and mid-sized projects from the FEL start to the acceptance end.
  • Capable of managing project of all field activities, subcontractor direction. Bid and award process, reviewing and writing project scopes of work. Managing cost and budget on projects. Understanding RFI’s. Change orders, budget, estimates. Data entry, purchase order entry, daily reports, monthly reports on cost and status. Labor repots and cost control.
  • Working with a client that has a high demand on quality/safety/process/accountability.
  • Working with and interface between engineering group and business team.


  • 15+ years’ construction experience, with a good understanding of all trades associated with commercial and industrial construction
  • Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices related to construction and ability to manage work permit process.
  • Ability to communicate written and verbally to client, team and management
  • Ability to lead meetings
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in daily tasks
  • Knowledge of technical vocabularies and terminology common to construction industry.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, spreadsheets and applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, listening and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to maintain positive relationship through daily communication with the client


  • This position is located on a working plant site and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremes. Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities:
  • extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, climbing stairs, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Walking distances can be up to 200 meters.
  • Stand or sit for periods of up to 4 hours
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
