Job Summary

AECOM is seeking to hire a Senior Geotechnical Engineer who will be based in our Centurion office

As the Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will be able and experienced with extensive knowledge of geotechnical investigation and design orientated work. You will be interacting on diverse projects and design applications, which will offer you both local and international experience as well as providing you with continual valued training, overseas engineering interaction, people management and continual advancement of your geotechnical career.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

  • Assist with the monitoring of the geotechnical field activities to ensure that they are undertaken in accordance with the project requirements, apply geotechnical assessment and interpretation .

  • Liaise with the geotechnical contractors to ensure the project meets with client expectations and deadlines.

  • Have good technical awareness/experience of specifications and implementing in accordance with the contract and design requirements.

  • Ensure the correctness and completeness of all deliverables (reports, drawings, etc.) to ensure they meet specifications (quality) and are consistent with field conditions, etc.

  • Assist the geotechnical team in preparation of contractual correspondence, as required.

  • Be willing to travel as the nature of the geotechnical projects may require traveling to other countries to undertake and complete work.

  • Perform other responsibilities or duties associated with this senior geotechnical position, as may be appropriate to the nature of geotechnical work requirements.

Specific Skills Required

  • Excellent knowledge of development and implementation of geotechnical investigations/design work.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English).

  • Ensure key strategic relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders are effectively developed, managed and maintained.

  • Ensure delivery is in line with the client objectives, on time and within the agreed budget.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in geotechnical investigation and design work.

Additional Comments

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • Valid passport

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum BSc (Hons) degree in civil engineering.

  • Professionally registered engineer
