AECOM is actively seeking an entry-level environmental scientist for employment in our Conshohocken, PA office. You will gain exposure to a variety of environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) for a variety of private and public sector clients.
AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program provides entry-level employees with critical support as they launch careers at AECOM. Throughout the program, participants establish core foundations of knowledge and key business and interpersonal learnings that provide support and guidance. Participants are given resources and opportunities to engage with seasoned and peer employees to further expand their new employee experiences at AECOM.
This position is expected to begin in October 2021.

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM’s global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals – to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Collect soil, water, and vapor samples using approved sampling plans and industry accepted methods. Document work with detailed field notes.
Remediation system operations.
Healthy and safety management.
Read, understand, and follow published test methods and standard operating procedures, including company and client specific programs.
Produce accurate and complete documentation of operation, inspections and compliance.
Show initiative in maintaining and repairing equipment, ordering and organizing supplies and maintaining work area.
Effectively communicate with site representatives regarding schedules and task requirements.
Coordination with and oversight from task and project managers, on-site subcontractors, and field staff.
Office support including preparation of work plans, health and safety plans, and technical reports.
Manage environmental data. Prepare tables and figures to present data.
Perform other tasks assigned by project and task managers.
Support assessment and remediation at other client facilities under direction of staff as necessary.
Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic travel.
Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
Anticipated division of job-related tasks is about a 50/50 percent split between office and field work
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
Flexible with working hours and locations and frequent travel
Willingness and ability to learn and rapidly master new tasks
Strong research and report writing (including web-based research)
Strong quality and time management
Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work
Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination
Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports
Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures
Knowledgeable and experience with State of New Jersey/Pennsylvania rules and regulations
Driver's license required and position may be subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening
Due to needed access to DoD project sites, this position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization
Must successfully pass preemployment background check
