Principal Contracts Specialist

KBR is currently seeking a highly motivated Principal Contracts Specialist to join our team. This position can be located either in Houston, TX or Fulton, MD.

The Principal Contracts Specialist conducts contract requirements development, negotiation, and administration of prime contracts and subcontracts, and/or related contractual documentation between KBR and its external customers. Review performance requirements ensuring contract is in accordance with legal requirements, customer specifications and government regulations. Issues contract documents.

Structures contractual terms to reflect business strategy. Initiates internal documentation to authorize and direct work in accordance with contractual specifications. Monitor performance of contractual obligations. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. Interprets internal (KBR) or external business (Industry) issues and recommends best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.

Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May mentor/run project teams within a discipline or job family. Requires depth and/or breadth of expertise in own specialized discipline. Interprets internal/external customer challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services based on industry knowledge. May advise multi-disciplinary teams or run projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.

Guide others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions. Impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project or service objectives; work is guided by broad Unit/Division/Department policies and customer requirements. Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to influence decisions. The primary customer contact for assigned area of responsibility.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, or related field
  • 10 + years of relevant experience
  • 8+ years of relevant government contract administration experience
  • In lieu of formal education 18 + years of relevant experience
  • Comprehensive technical and functional knowledge of contract administration including government regulations/procedures
  • Advanced negotiation skills/techniques and experience
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Fraud Alert

Fraud has infiltrated the job placement market via the internet, email and direct phone contact. Attempts have included unauthorized use of KBR’s name and logo to solicit potential job seekers or to extend false job offers. Bad actors may mix in fake job advertisements with legitimate postings.
