Job Summary

AECOM is currently looking for a Senior Plumbing Designer who will be capable of working independently and complete small and large project design requirements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading projects for new facilities and renovation, modernization, and repurposing of existing buildings. The incumbent must be well organized, able to demonstrate critical thinking, quickly recognize issues, and be part of the solution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be proficient in all aspects of plumbing systems design for projects of all sizes

  • Evaluate, select, apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and judgement based on experience to design plumbing systems in buildings using building information modeling

  • Coordinate plumbing systems with other disciplines

  • Make major design decisions and recommendations with little input from senior staff

  • Be self-motivated with strong work ethic

  • Take pride in and ownership of your work

  • Concisely express complex system solutions in very early design phases

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files

  • Act as an adviser and review documents prepared by junior project team members

  • Assist with mentoring of junior staff

  • Attend project meetings, both internal and with clients

  • Assist in project quality control review

  • Review and approve shop drawings, respond to RFI's and other administrative tasks

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with plumbing systems design for buildings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Six (6) years of relevant experience of plumbing systems for buildings

  • Licensed professional engineer (PE)

  • CPD certification

  • Full understanding and ability to complete and coordinate project design assignments with the ability to review team member’s work for quality and recognition of training requirements

  • Experience with building plumbing systems including but not limited to sanitary drainage and venting, domestic service water, domestic hot water, and storm drainage systems

  • Experience with sustainable design and energy efficiency

  • Experience with Design-Build projects

  • Experience with U.S. Department of Defense agency requirements (UFCs, SpecsIntact, etc.)

  • Successfully performed the role of lead designer on various projects

  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently

  • Good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

  • AutoCAD and Revit experience
