AECOM is seeking an Instrumentation Specialist (IS) to operate, maintain, and monitor the Automated Data Acquisition System (ADAS) for safety monitoring during the stilling basin construction at USACE Bluestone Dam in Hinton, West Virginia. The automated instrumentation includes an existing suite of nearly 100 vibrating wire in-place inclinometers (IPIs), piezometers, tiltmeters, and crackmeters. The period of performance is a minimum of 6 months up to 3 years through June 2024. The IS will evaluate data and make recommendations to the USACE. The IS will be working with a team of AECOM and USACE engineers, some of whom will be on site at the dam.
The successful candidate shall be a Professional Engineer (PE) with 5 years of experience or another technically qualified person with a minimum of 10 years of experience evaluating, trouble shooting, and running Campbell Scientific data acquisition systems and vibrating wire sensors of similar magnitude. A candidate with a PE may be required to register as a PE with West Virginia (comity is available). The candidate will be required to pass a USACE background investigation and will need to have or obtain an OSHA 30-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training certificate and an Adult First Aid/CPR/AED training certificate.

The job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
