Aegis FCS/ORTS Instructor (CSCS-21-1599-F):

Bowhead is seeking a Aegis FCS/ORTS/BMD Instructor to Develop, organize and conduct training and educational programs for Fleet sailors in support of Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren Virginia. Training program requires ability to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training. Candidate would serve as a Journeyman Instructor to train CG/DDG sailors in the performance of preventative and corrective maintenance on the MK-99 AEGIS Fire Control System, Ballistic Missile Defense, MK84 400Hz Power Distribution System, and the Air Cooled Solid State Frequency Power Generation System on Baseline 7.1 and higher AEGIS units (CG and DDG). When required, the candidate would provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for ATRC courses supporting present and future courses development of the AEGIS MK-99 AEGIS Fire Control System/MK84 400Hz Power Distribution System/Ballistic Missile Defense Technician courses.

Job Duties to include but are not limited to:
• Provides dynamic teaching & training as well as assessment that require advanced knowledge of U.S. Navy Aegis Combat Systems Capabilities and Limitations to the officer level.
• Reviews and analyzes U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System Engineering Capabilities and Limitations and U.S. Navy Operational and Tactical doctrine and integrates and conceptualizes the execution of Doctrine optimizing the application of ship's Combat Systems capabilities and limitation in the dynamic operational tactical environment.
• Conducts dynamic assessment of the sailors’ abilities to comply with approved maintenance and operational procedures and thereafter provides formal appraisal of performance with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain technical and tactical proficiency.
• Observes and assesses contemporaries during Practice and Certification Teaches per requirements NAVEDTRA 135.
• Prepares, reviews, and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.
• Supports Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates; conducts training gap analysis provides formal feedback and recommendation for Course improvement.
• Documents the training conducted with specifics of the individual areas / watch station and is responsible for generation of a formal assessment of measure of success via written report.
• Develops, tests, maintains and delivers moderately complex Aegis training programs and related materials in support of ATRC training objectives.
• Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.
• Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
• Maintains records of training activities, participant progress and program effectiveness.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline is desired but not required. An equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, and work/military experience totaling at least 5 years of experience and training may be considered an acceptable substitution for the highly qualified candidate.
• Five (5) years of experience with the required system or process as either a maintenance technician manager or operator manager with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a journeyman level training environment. Of the five (5) years, one (1) year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.
• Additional qualification possess NEC 1148/V28A (FCS/ORTS COTS) or NEC 1143/V23A (FCS/ORTS MILSPEC) or NEC 1114/V14A FCS BMD 3.6) or NEC 1094/1095/V05A/V06A FCS BMD 4.0/5.0 and MSS TACAP MILSPEC or COTS and NEC 9502/805A (instructor). Experience as a qualified MSS and/or a Master/Afloat Training Specialist in support of CSCS/TACTRAGRU/ATG is a significant plus. Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Shift work may be included. Travel may be required up to 5% of time. • Experience as trainer/instructor in support of CSCS/ATRC/TACTRAGRU is a significant plus. Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Shift work may be included. Travel may be up required to 5 % of time.
.• Previous experience as trainer/instructor in support of CSC/BMDO/AAWC and a Master Training Specialist NEC is a significant plus.
• Must be able to support training while standing for extended periods of time.
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. To receive and respond to instructions/assignments, must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
