Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Civil Technologist and CAD group leader for immediate employment based in our Burnaby, BC office.

The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering and technology principles and is very familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater and storm water sector and should have a working knowledge of water / wastewater conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment.

  • Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater conveyance facilities.

  • Design of systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities.

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

  • Manage conveyance infrastructure CAD group including workload planning, mentorship and performance management

  • Perform constructability reviews

  • Perform construction inspections

  • Assist with construction administration

  • Assist with preparation of construction cost estimates

  • Assist with preparation of project specifications and contract documents

Additional responsibilities will include assistance with proposal preparation; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

Minimum Requirements

  • 6+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design and inspection

  • 6+ years experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Valid BC Class V Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design and inspection

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent)

  • Eligible for registration with ASTTBC preferred

  • MMCD Contract Administration certification is considered an asset

  • Good time management skills

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
