Job Summary

As a result of an internal promotion, AECOM has an opportunity for a Cost Controller to join our Environment Business Line in Brisbane. As part of your role, you will provide support and expertise on projects, ensuring proper controls on your projects and assisting Project Managers and Operational leaders to deliver optimal profit and cash results for AECOM.

As a trusted advisor, you will be responsible for monitoring and preparing financial information relating to the projects within your portfolio and ensuring that project risks and opportunities are identified early. This will include the development and coordination of project procedures to ensure the efficient cost control of projects, including the recording, controlling, forecasting and reporting of all financial matters.

The role will see you leading and participating in project health reviews to identify financial risks and issues, and proactively follow up to ensure the appropriate actions have been taken. This is a true partnering role, enabling you to contribute to driving the P&L and cash performance by providing insights to the Project Managers on how project and business profitability and cash performance can be improved.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience working as a project accountant or controller role, or similar

  • Experience working in a related industry such as Engineering Consulting or Construction Services – highly regarded

  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts including how project information and performance relates to P&L and cash performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in Finance/Accounting - preferred

  • Competent in systems eg. Oracle and MS office suite

  • Proficient with Project Accounting/Cost Control software

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
