Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to work on a government project. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of experience in Electrical Engineering and experience working on government projects.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Performs various Electrical Engineering management and leadership responsibilities for the AECOM client

  • Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.

  • Supports and performs commissioning activities.

  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.

  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters

  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits

  • Supervises group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit

  • Assist in business development activities

  • Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings

  • Works cooperatively with client, managers, and others to achieve company and client missions

  • Ensures deliverables that are created meet overall project team requirements for project scope, schedule, and Quality

  • Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical and fire alarm disciplines

  • Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction

  • Works within BIM and/or non-BIM design environments as required by characteristics of the specific assignment

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 8 or more years of electrical design experience, including on-site assignments, and including assignments requiring clearance.

  • Current Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years of electrical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills

  • Experience with sustainable design
