Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a self-starter and experienced business development leader to drive growth for our Southern California Transportation business. This external facing leader will represent AECOM in the marketplace and oversee business development, sales, and strategy for all sectors of transportation including Highways & Bridges, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Transit & Rail, Aviation, and Ports & Marine.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

The candidate will need to be a growth minded leader who can work collaboratively with others senior leadership and mentor staff in a fast pace setting to support business development, marketing and communications, capture management, and strategy. The ideal person must be able to verbally and visually communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly to peers and senior leadership.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Help build a strong and thriving culture in Southern California Transportation that promotes equity, diversity, & inclusion, sustainability, and innovation; while preserving technical excellency in our core competency.

  • Provide leadership in recruiting and retaining top talent to Southern California.

  • In collaboration with senior leadership, develop and own the long-term vision for sustained growth of AECOM’s transportation business in Southern California.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership team in the US West Transportation on driving strategic growth initiatives throughout the region.

  • Work with the US West Transportation growth team in developing annual strategic plan to set targets and goals for the fiscal year, and own the Awards and Bookings KPIs.

  • Oversee the capture process for key pursuits in Southern California to ensure best practices are being adhered to, and continuously improve capture results.

  • Lead the client account management program for key clients in Southern California to ensure active management by Client Account Managers.

  • Collaborate with local divisional leadership across all markets and organize civic engagement activities.

  • Work with local division leadership to maintain salesforce data integrity.

  • Work with local division leadership to grow salesforce pipeline.

  • Manage Southern California conference and meeting sponsorships and collaborate with local division leadership across all markets for attendance.

  • Be responsible for holding regular Southern California business development meetings with all relevant stakeholders and ensuring frequent and regular communication.

Minimum Requirements

  • Twelve (12) years of related business development experience within the Transportation industry, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Four (4) years of leadership experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in in planning, engineering, architecture, or a related field of study.

  • AECOM encourages, but does not require, its employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. However, this position is one where President Biden’s Executive Order will require the employee to be vaccinated. Proof of vaccine will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in business development, and strong existing relationships with, transportation agencies in Southern California

  • Existing relationships within the transportation community in Southern California, and active involvement in local professional organizations

  • Strong understanding of best practices in capture process for professional services

  • Demonstrated knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce

  • Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Ability to communicate problems clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff

  • Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality
