In this position, you will be an important addition to the Structural Department of the Buildings + Places group, consisting of A/S/M/E/C disciplines all under one roof. You will be provided with various opportunities and tools within AECOM to advance your career. You will be able to steer your career in the direction of your preference. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Participate in a wide variety of projects including subway stations and other transit facilities, vehicle storage/maintenance facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, and municipal and industrial facilities.
Use independent judgement to evaluate, analyze and design structures in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and other building materials, with thorough working knowledge of OBC, NBCC, CSA, and related codes/standards.
Interpret project requirements and develop proposed solutions
Perform computer modelling, structural analysis and design calculations, complying with applicable codes and standards
Preparing contract drawings and specifications
Conducting field investigations
Liaising with clients
Performing shop drawing review
Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering
A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in as many as possible of the following types of projects: subway stations and other transit facilities, vehicle storage/maintenance facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, and municipal and industrial facilities. More experience is preferred.
Licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.) registered with PEO.
Skills in the areas of team building, collaboration and effective communications with colleagues, clients and contractors.
Ability to manage and supervise less-experienced engineers and CAD technologists.
Effective time-management, written communications skills, analytical and interpersonal skills as well as good decision making, planning and organizational skills.
Proven ability to meet required delivery dates for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word and Excel.
