About Our Team: Our Cost Management team in Edinburgh are part of the wider Scottish Cost Management team delivering all aspects of cost management services, covering the whole project lifecycle from initial inception, through the design and procurement process and onto the site delivery and commissioning phase. We have secured places on several local and national frameworks and are looking to expand our team to deliver an exciting mix of projects across a range of sectors and clients.
As an Associate Cost Manager, you will be expected to work with a Project Director to successfully manage and deliver capital investment projects. The role will cover the whole project lifecycle from initial inception, through the design and procurement process and onto the site delivery and commissioning phase.
Lead Cost Management commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery
Provide effective support and mentoring to Senior Cost Managers, Cost Managers, Graduates and Apprentices
Ensures commissions are managed and completed efficiently, on time and to the client’s satisfaction
Develops strong reciprocal relationships with clients and members of the project team
Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (new and existing)
Ensure all staff members reporting to you have current and relevant training
Manage the delivery of cost management team outputs, in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards
Provide full Cost Management duties to AECOM clients
Managing and motivating a project team of surveyors
Participate in business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities, ensuring that these are identified and acted upon
Approach to all projects requires a high degree of flexibility and creativity, excellent presentational skills and an ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants. The successful candidate shall be charged with the delivery of Cost Management Services within our Client focused and highly motivated professional team.
Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
Professionally Qualified – Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS, CIOB or other equivalent institution.
Experience in risk management
Collaborative management skills
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Specific industry and project experience – defence
Valid UK driving licence
A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning
Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate
Ability to manage multiple projects for a variety of public and private sector clients.
Prior line-management experience
