Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME), technical support, software development, and perform technical analysis as required for the NRL DoD space-based atmospheric Microwave (MW) Sensors Calibration and Validation (CalVal), US Space Force (USSF) MW sensor demonstrations and MW CubeSat programs.
Support tasks include but are not limited to: the analysis of microwave remote sensing systems, pre-flight specifications and characterizations of microwave radiometer systems, assessments of calibration algorithms, sensor specific ground processing software systems, and the calibration and validation of spaced based microwave radiometric data. Specific MW sensors and programs include the current Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Special Sensor Microwave Imager Sounder (SSMIS) mission, the ongoing USSF Space Test Program-Houston 8 (STP-H8) Compact Ocean Wind Vector Radiometer (COWVR) and Temporal Experiment for Storms and Tropical Systems (TEMPEST) mission, the Weather Satellite Follow-on Microwave (WSF)- Microwave (WSF-M) polarimetric imagers (MWI) and multiple MW CubeSat CalVal efforts.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
COVID Policy: Prospective and/or new employees are required to adhere with SAIC's vaccination policy. All SAIC employees must be fully vaccinated and they must submit proof of vaccination on their first day of employment. Prospective or new employees may seek an exemption to the vaccination requirement at and must have an approved exemption prior to the start of their employment. Where work is performed strictly at a customer site, customer site vaccination requirements preempt SAIC's vaccination policy.
