SAIC is seeking a Telemetry and Control Engineer for the OMES II contract in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The position is located in Lanham, MD.

The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property.


This is a senior engineering position with an emphasis on ground system development and operations engineering during the continued implementation of upgrades to the Command, Control & Communications (C3S) segment of the ground system for the NPP and GCOM missions as well as implementation of the JPSS-1 and future mission capabilities.

The candidate must have a strong technical base in the following areas:

  • Spacecraft technical information engineering.
  • Ground system development and operations engineering and expertise in Telemetry & Command.
  • Command, Front end with software development.

At a minimum, the candidate shall have the following skills:

  • Earth observing mission system engineering skills.
  • Knowledge of system engineering and integration tools.
  • Experience in system and schedule integration.
  • Experience in ground system development, installation and test.
  • Experience in ground stations with emphasis on communications and test. 
  • Task management experience.
  • Flight system engineering information management.
  • Flight software database and table management - candidate must have direct, relevant experience and familiarization with NASA/NOAA system architecture and organizational structures. 



Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Level of experience: at least 9+ years of relevant experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to lead and interact with distributed team members and different corporate cultures.
  • Self-starter and good organizer.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial business applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
