Job Summary

AECOM Calgary is seeking an experienced senior professional to support our Canadian Upstream Oil & Gas Remediation and Reclamation team. We are looking for a technically proficient, enthusiastic individual to support our existing upstream presence, grow our group and expand our client base. This position will provide regional technical leadership to an established program and support future growth. Our ideal candidate has the people skills to grow and mentor staff and the technical experience to support clients in a “trusted-advisor” capacity.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Exhibiting personal safety leadership in the oversight and execution of all work.

  • Provision of technical expertise in support of ongoing AECOM remediation and reclamation projects, including the review of work scopes and client deliverables

  • Demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery and technical problems.

  • The ability to mentor and develop a team of environmental professionals to achieve their potential.

  • Development and management of client-facing relationships.

  • Development of strategic proposals and budgets in support of work opportunities.

  • Regularly communicate with regulators, clients, and other AECOM technical staff/project managers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Chemical, Environmental, etc.) or sciences: (Environmental etc.) + 10 years experience in remediation and/ or reclamation projects

  • Ability to provide professional sign-off on remediation and/or reclamation reports according to the Alberta Joint Practice Standard (e.g., APEGA, AIA, ASPB, etc.)

  • 10 or more years of relevant Alberta experience in oil and gas (environmental site assessment, remediation and reclamation)

  • Leading $5-$10M remediation and reclamation programs

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer, Geologist or Agrologist registered with APEGA or AIA

  • Experience with Alberta Subsoil salinity Tool and/or Tier 2 modelling experience

  • Experience in Site Supervision

  • Experience in Contract Management/Administration

  • Ideally 15 years of consulting and/or industry experience

  • Proven track record with regulatory advocacy and obtaining site closure

  • Ability to apply environmental quality guidelines to data collected from various media and land uses

  • Experience developing and implementing project scheduling, monitoring and tracking systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Strong client management skills

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and participating in multidiscipline teams

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel and Word

  • Can-do, positive attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
