SAIC is seeking a Logistics Support Specialist for our efforts in Fairfield, NJ. In this role you will be supporting the ChemPol & FSG80 Program, and your main focus will be planning, implementing and coordinating contract activities as it relates to the processing of DOD oversees deliveries using the government's Vendor Shipping Module (VSM). This is an entry level position, and is a great opportunity for someone looking to get into a logistics role - especially if you are interested in supporting DOD programs.
Location: This position will require you to be on-site in Fairfield, NJ at least once a week.
Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, implement and coordinate contract activities as it relates to the processing of DOD oversees deliveries. 
  • Uses web-based distribution and transportation system to log, track and verifying military shipping labels and transportation documentation.  
  • Follows clearly detailed procedures and controls to obtain shipping instructions from customer country (or their representatives) for material that may be hard to handle e.g Hazardous, Perishable, or Classified.  
  • Manages and corrects exception errors.  


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • This is an entry level position that requires a High School Diploma and no previous experience.
  • Experience working Excel Spreadsheets (VLookUps, formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
