Job Summary:

AECOM's landscape architectural design practice, as part of the Buildings + Places business line, has an exciting opportunity for an highly motivated , self-starting and dedicated Senior Landscape Architect who wants to grow in their career. This position is part of a succession plan to grow into and ultimately take over the leadership and grow the landscape architectural practice in the Kitchener office. Additionally, there is a great opportunity to represent Canada as the Landscape Architectural lead for urbanism and planning as part of the Global Practice Committee and meeting virtually with AECOM committee members on a monthly basis.

The successful candidate will primarily service clients in southern Ontario and provide support to the Buildings + Places team in Ontario. This position is based out of our Kitchener, Ontario office.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with clients, municipalities and internal staff

  • Collaborate with management on preparation of project proposals; contribute to landscape architectural development of proposals and feasibility studies

  • Project work to include commercial developments, industrial developments, core parks, transit projects, public facility sites, buffers, design guidelines, streetscapes, mutli use trails and approvals.

  • Prepare creative and innovative plans and designs for clients conceptual and detailed design, tendering and construction review services.

  • Prepare sketches, design drawings, contract drawings, diagrams, room within AutoCAD software.

  • Assistance with preparation of working drawings as required.

  • Drawing co-ordination with architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and environmental disciplines as needed.

  • Assistance with construction contract administration – shop drawings, change orders, and as-built drawings.

  • Assisting senior level staff as directed.

  • Ensuring designs conform with all applicable codes and client standards.

  • Participate as a productive member of a design team for the Buildings + Places group.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture

  • 6 years of relevant experience doing Landscape Architectural Design work

  • Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer 15 years of experience in the Landscape Architectural design of municipal, commercial, industrial, institutional facilities, transportation and emergency services preferred.

  • Registration with OALA

  • Excellent knowledge of and experience in AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Photoshop, 3D Max.Knowledge in Microsoft Office.

  • Well organized, self-directed work habits with an ability to prioritize and schedule tasks in a dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal English communication skill proficiency effectively communicating complex design or technical issues

  • Knowledge of environmental systems and construction detailing.

  • Desire to grow within an exciting multi-disciplinary officeExperience with light rail transit and MTO projects is an asset.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in 3D Max and MicroStation is an asset.

  • Knowledge in Photoshop, Adode suite, and Microstation is an asset.

  • Construction phase experience in contract administration and field review is an asset

  • Experience with light rail transit and MTO projects is an asset.
