The Technical Exploitation Support Services (TESS) team is critical in supporting DoD, Federal, and IC partners’ Global War on Terrorism efforts by providing state of the art technical exploitation and collection capabilities in digital media exploitation triage and automation, advanced technical Media Exploitation (MEDEX), and advanced Mobile Device Exploitation. Activities include digital forensics activities, software reverse engineering, hardware exploitation, parser development, reverse engineering, mobile applications development and engineering, and technical exploitation (collection, transmission, prioritization translation, and analysis and dissemination of materials).

ManTech is seeking a career and customer-oriented Software Reverse Engineer in Vienna, Virginia.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Isolate, review, analyze, and reverse-engineer programs and applications.
  • Work within the boot process, kernel, and system internals to devise novel solutions using tools like IDA Pro, debuggers, and in-target probes to research behavior of binaries.
  • Analyze software and firmware using reverse engineering techniques to understand security vulnerabilities, working closely with teammates who value innovation and execution.
  • Analyze, disassemble, and reverse engineer software binaries; document and transition results in reports, presentations and technical exchanges.
  • Design, prototype, document, test and transition code analysis methods and tools appropriate for operational use.
  • Conduct intelligence analysis and write intelligence reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline preferred and 4 or more years of related experience.
  • Working experience with reverse engineering and network security tools, including IDA Pro, GDB, WinDdg, YARA, Windows Sysinternals, Kali Linux, and/or Wireshark
  • Working level programming knowledge/experience with Windows Kernel, C, C++, Python and/or Assembly Language and ability to work in a team environment using modern version control systems.
  • Working level experience in hardware configuration, network/data communications and protocols.
  • Working level experience in software engineering and scripting.
  • Experience/understanding of compiler specifics, operating system concepts, security models, and the causes of most vulnerabilities and how to exploit them. Preferably, experience coding and disassembling software on both Windows and Linux or other *BSD and Unix variants.
  • Working experience/knowledge of cyber exploitation and attack, to identify, quantify, prioritize, and report vulnerabilities in architectures, networks, communications, applications, and systems.
  • Experience establishing defense mechanisms to detect / deflect Cyberattacks on networks and communications systems and structures and designing / evaluating applications secure from known and potential methods of Cyberattack.
  • Experience coordinating systems implementation activities to ensure transition from development to implementation and operation, presenting and defending a position, and communicating with government and contractor team members.
  • Experience with virtualization, driver programming, debugging, and diagnosing software systems.
  • Experience with ethical hacking and/or testing software vulnerabilities.
  • Candidate will be required to complete and pass a written test, prior to beginning work on the contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry standard certification such as [Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM), Certified Reverse Engineering Analyst (CREA), etc.].

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Constantly positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Must be able to detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, & Assess.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
