The Security Operations Center Analyst’s primary function is to provide comprehensive Computer Network Defense and Response support through 24×7×365 monitoring and analysis of potential threat activity targeting the DOD enterprise. Responsibilities include providing Tier 1 support by analyzing network traffic and various log data to determine the threat/impact against the network, recommending appropriate countermeasures, facilitating the tracking, handling, and reporting of all security events and computer incidents. This position will support activities within Controlled Unclassified Information Networks (CUI) supporting the Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate. The position will provide “day-to-day” support for CUI up to Secret Level activities.

General Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, detect, scan, record, audit, analyze, report, remedy, coordinate, and track security related events for IWTSD IT Systems

  • Responsible for working in a Security Operation Center (SOC) environment

  • Other duties as assigned or required


  • Must be knowledgeable and have hands-on experience with a Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM) platforms and/or log management systems that perform log collection, analysis, correlation, and alerting

  • A working knowledge of the various operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux, etc.) commonly deployed in enterprise networks, a conceptual understanding of Windows Active Directory is also required, and a working knowledge of network communications and routing protocols (e.g. TCP, UDP, ICMP, BGP, MPLS, etc.) and common internet applications and standards (e.g. SMTP, DNS, DHCP, SQL, HTTP, HTTPS, etc.)

  • Previous experience working in a fast-pace environment

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work well within a team environment

  • Demonstrated experience with multi-tasking and prioritizing

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience using PowerPoint for presentations

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology or related field) or equivalent,

  • Minimum of four (4) years of security-related experience

  • Experience in handling incident response

  • Certifications (Required): CNDSP-A (GCIA, GCIH, CFHI, or CEH), CYSA+
