  Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated professionals in El Segundo, CA who assist the US Space Force in developing and deploying the next generation of satellites and ground systems for missile warning (MW) and environmental monitoring (EM) capabilities.  These systems alert senior military officials when missile launches occur around the globe, as well as enable global naval vessel and troop movements by providing mission-critical weather data to ensure mission success. 

  Our Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) team has an immediate need for a Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Lead with experience analyzing space and ground system architectures. We are looking for innovative, creative, and highly motivated individuals to develop models and simulations that effectively capture system and system of systems effects in complex operational environments. 

This role provides systems engineering and integration expertise in support of the Space Systems Command's (SSC) MW and SBEM mission areas.

 

Major duties of the position include:

 

  • Leading the team to design, develop, and verify simulations and analysis plans, as well as other work products such as gap analyses or Technical Performance Measures (TPM) assessments, that enable key program and architectural decisions 
  • Generating analytical modeling solutions to assess enterprise performance, identify technology gaps, creating technology roadmaps, developing requirements and specifying the operational benefits of current and future concepts based on customer approved scenarios 
  • Support requirements development, system verification, and concept of operations (CONOPS) development as well as working with system and mission analysts to ensure additional modeling, simulation, analysis capabilities meet operational mission requirements 
  • Identifying needs and opportunities for independent assessment and improvement of the enterprise and/or system
  • Developing algorithms, writing simulations, and analyzing key performance parameters associated with space sensors and ground mission processing system designs
  • Supporting analysis activities by integrating performance models with MBSE models and tools
  • Quantifying performance impacts and sensitivity to changes in CONOPS, scenarios, and/or threats
  • Developing and briefing data packages that provide analysis results to inform the government decision-makers 
  • Working closely with the government customer to understand needs and collaborating with prime contractors, other team contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force
  • Mentoring and training junior engineers, finding opportunities for them to grow professionally in this environment through leading projects and briefing leadership
     

 

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • Master's Degree in Math, Science, or Engineering with 16+ years of demonstrated system engineering and integration experience (equivalently a similar Bachelor's Degree with 18+ years, or PhD with 15+ years)     
  • Experience working across space and ground segment organizations to coordinate and identify system requirements that ensure end-to-end mission performance requirements are met  
  • Experience with and strong understanding of modeling, simulation, and mission analysis techniques and tools (i.e. Matlab, STK, AFSIM, MODTRAN, SSGM)
  • Experience scripting for analysis purposes
  • Experience with and understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and knowledge of SysML tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, No Magic Cameo, , or other comparable tools
  • Demonstrated experience working with Air Force/Space Force/DoD customers in an acquisition environment, with space and/or ground systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organization and interpersonal skills

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Experience working in an Agile team/framework
  • OPIR and SBEM Mission experience is highly desirable
