SAIC is looking for a System Engineering and Integration Division – SE&I professional who possesses achieves and maintains the lifecycle requirements baseline for the SPO-developed collection systems, including space vehicle, payloads, and associated ground command and control elements. This position is located in Chantilly, VA and  requires an active TS/SCI with Poly to start. 


 Job Description:

Systems Integration requires an experienced engineer familiar with space systems acquisition to support the development and maintenance of requirements at the program Collection Segment level.  The engineer will work closely with the customer on a daily basis as the Collection Segment requirements focal point/SME, as well as interface with other groups across the SPO, development contractors, and enterprise.  Tasks to be accomplished at the request of the customer include:

  • Lead flow-down of requirements from higher level governing documents
  • Lead SPO preparation and execution of Segment-level design reviews to assess design maturity and requirements compliance 
  • Support relevant requirements development and test planning activities across the enterprise and with development contractors
  • Execute system-level testing including internal and external to support final system verification, validation, and delivery
  • Lead coordination and completion of segment requirements sell-off, along with other verification and validation activities
  • Leverage a variety of software tools, including DOORs, and develop scripts to perform analyses and automation of tasks
  • Coordinate across SPO for any proposed requirements changes and facilitate integration of changes into the baseline
  • Identify risks to mission closure in the collection segment and evaluate proposed burn-down plans
  • Support technical evaluations of contractor proposals
  • Attend program management reviews to provide informed technical recommendations to the customer
  • Liaise with mission analysis and acquisition teams to ensure completeness across the acquisition
  • Develop productive relationships with prime contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft, payload, and ground subject matter experts
  • Advise and mentor customer Systems Integration Branch personnel regarding Segment architecture, requirements and verification and validation
  • Other duties as specified by the customer.




Required Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or significant mission experience with 9+ years of experience
  • Basic understanding of DOD/IC satellite systems and architectures
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building, and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be independent and effective in a government/contractor team environment
  • Experience in DOD/IC acquisition and program management processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated sustained superior performance
  • Available to travel domestically

Desired Attributes:

  • Systems testing with experience in end-to-end functional testing across multiple interfaces
  • Masters in an engineering discipline
  • Experience in DOORs and other requirements and model-based systems engineering tools
  • Willingness to learn how to code in different languages as required
  • Prior software development experience
  • Previous experience developing technical specifications for space systems

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
